Spotted - a ringed Whooper Swan

Alex from birdwatchireland.ie spotted a yellow darvic-ringed Whooper Swan at the Tumduff Mor wetlands in January 2011. Having submitted the details of the tag (B9T) to wwt.org.uk they discovered that this particular swan was originally ringed, as an adult, in Iceland in August 2006. The sighting in the Boora Parklands is the first recorded sighting since, which makes it even more exciting.

A Whooper Swan with the same style of ring was spotted in the parklands in 2008-2009 but without having been able to read the ring at that time, we don't know for sure if it was the same one.

If you're in the parklands and you spot a ringed swan, why not try to get the details and This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ?
