New sculptures for Lough Boora Parklands
Thursday, 09 July 2009 13:52

System no.30 sculpture at the parklands “Artist in Residence Programme” hosted by Sculpture in the Parklands will take place at Lough Boora Parkland from August 31st to September 18th

Artists Julian Wild & Alan Counihan will create two new sculptures, inspired by the industrial & environmental heritage of the peatlands.  Each sculpture will be developed over a three week period.

Julian Wild will work on what will look like a serpentine swimming across the surface of the canal. This will be made from scrap pieces of metal once used in machinery of the bog.   Whilst Alan Counihan will work on cutting a trench into a raised bank of turf, creating a passageway lined will railway sleepers.

Official launch will take place Friday 18th September.  The public are encouraged to visit & watch the progress over the three weeks at the parklands, during the residency programme.
