Drinagh wetland is the largest and most recent addition to the parklands. It is 267 hectares in size and consists of 186 hectares of permanent wetland - the largest wetland in the parklands complex. At present Drinagh is a rather bleak wilderness area. However, it does contain areas which have been undergoing natural recolonisation for up to ten years and is already attracting large numbers of birds.
The Drinagh wetlands are situated to the South of the Cloghan wetlands. Like the Derries, this area is set-aside for wildlife and visitors are not encouraged unless part of an organised group.
