The Parklands have been developed with both conservation and the provision of complementary amenities in mind. This approach means that there are a number activities that the visitor can pursue.

ANGLING

As areas of the Parklands came out of commercial peat production a number of still-water fishing lakes were developed as both local and tourist amenities.

WALKING

There are 50 km of paths in the Parklands ranging in length
from a short stroll to 5 km. Whether taking a closer look at the Parkland’s flora and fauna, or simply taking a quiet walk, these paths are the ideal way to see the Parklands.

A walk through the seasons

BIRDWATCHING

Over one hundred and thirty bird species have been recorded in the Parklands, many of which can be seen from bird hides located throughout the complex. These include one hide designed and sited to facilitate wheelchair access.

OTHER CLUBS

Several independent clubs operate in the Parklands.

Midland Rifle Club shooting grounds offers facilities second to none. The range is geared for the Rimfire and Centre Fired Rifles and, in addition, has a full Sporting Clay Pigeon layout on site...

Model Airplane Club Anyone wishing to see these miniature aircraft in action can do so between 1.30 p.m. and 5.00 p.m. most Sundays, weather permitting.
