The Irish Hare is the most common mammal in the parklands. Listed in the Red Data book as being an Internationally Important species, it can be seen in large numbers in the parkland’s scrub and grassland areas. Otters and badgers
The nocturnal Badger is also found throughout the complex and although rarely seen evidence of their activity can be seen on snow-covered ground, for like the Fox they favour certain pathways, giving an indication of their territories. Smaller mammals of the parklandsThe parkland’s smaller mammals, such as Field mice and tiny Pigmy Shrews are also rarely seen, keeping themselves well hidden from predators such as Owls and Kestrel hunting overhead.
